Sheep?

After I heard the news from Damscus today and saw how the world arround us is going grazy. I decided that I had enough...No more watching of the news.

From now on, I will set on my sofa, drink my beer, and watch sex & the city...

  • I'm a Dane living in Copenhagen and I'm so sad to see how one of our newspapers have so offended and hurt people in countries that we have always been friends with. It hurts to see our embassies and flags burning and the death treats against all danes as well. I hope and prey that most muslims know that the pictures were published by a private newspaper and that far from all danes subscribe to it. The paper has apologized but I hope someone sues it and wins. Blasphemy is illegal in Denmark and satire drawings of any religion should never be made no matter how free we are to draw and speak our minds.

  • Hi Dane
I am moroog, egyptian girl working in Dubai...thxx for your comments but you have to understand that the people who burned embassies are not the same people who fight against this article.....there are few people wants to burn every thing between countries....The real muslims are not like this and they do respect the human rights for any countries and religious.....

  • Hi Moroog. Happily I know that most muslims are tolerant and peaceful and good people. It's a shame that the minority that are extremist can make themselves heard so loud and seen so often. Why do real muslims who are tolerant and peaceful and who are the biggest group, why do they not protest against the extremists who burn and kill in the name of Islam? Seing big demonstrations in the streets for peace and against violence in the name of islam, would send a strong message that the real islam that most muslims follow is a religion of peace. To see such demonstrations on CNN, and in Europe would be such a strong message from muslims who are tired of Extremists giving Islam and the Prophet a bad name.
Here in Denmark muslims have marched in the streets against violence the recent days. I wish people in Syria, Lebanon and elsewhere would do that as well.
I hope that muslim people have not seen a false image of how Denmark is because of one bad newspaper. Most muslims who live here know that we respect muslims and see you as our friends and allies. It was a dumb editor of a privately owned newspaper that made a dumb and respectless decision that now has affected every dane and our entire country. The paper has apologized and been taken to court by many, and hopefully boycutted by many already. We do have laws against blasphemy and they are being used. The government and the Danish people respect Islam and have done little wrong against it's people and never wanted to do so. I hope you will still like and try to understand Danish people even though we cannot travel to your countries in the near future because of fear.
    Sincerely, Soren

  • Hello Amr,
You may have been getting some unexplained visits from the Netherlands lately.
This morning I posted a blog, pointing the scared Dutch masses to, amongst others, your site. I mentioned it as an example of how most people that condemn these violent attacks are not newsworthy enough to make it to CNN, but can easly be found on the net.

Usually my logs aren't that widely read, but this one took of very fast and is generating loads of hits. Sorry I didn't warn you in advance, but thanks for helping us create a dialogue...

    Kind regads,
    Nico Moenens (N=1)

BTW I just translated the blog, it can be found here

  • Hi Soren
I am very glad that we still have a mentality like you and I am sure there are still many people everywhere. But normally people hear the bad not the good and wise things... The few people you are talking about are the same people who want to cut the relation between all the courtiers either there are muslims or another religious....Those people aim to destroy the relation forever and to show how muslims people are bad for another reasons.
I normally don’t judge like this, but i am sure in Denmark there are good and bad like every where, but things get to worst because it took 3 month for the apologies. I believe you must have freedom to write in any subject and to discus your opinion about Islam but you never put silly pictures and make fun.
Who are tired of extremists giving Islam and the Prophet a bad name are the same people who burnt embassies and flags and wrote articles to create problems tomorrow.
But one bad newspaper have touch a very sensitive issue which is a religious, however if the newspaper mentioned the opinion in islam, I will still respected because it is up to every one to follow his preferred religious.
I believed your government must has but an end to such newspapers, since it affected the relations between countries and not with newspapers, and we won’t reach to the current situation.
BTW I know how sensitive now to travel to our countries but be sure that we have mentalities that respects people and will never harm you…you will find peace in their heart and mind…
    Regards, Moroog Helmi

  • I believe that religon had nothing to do with this mullah-instigated hysteria in the Middle East. It's just another chance for your clerics to move the uneducated masses and demonstrate somewhat of a show of force to the West. Freedom of speech is above and beyond anyone's religious belief's and modern Muslims should take a long, and hard look in the mirror and ask themselves one simple question: why is the world treating us like pre-historic cavemen? I am sure the answer can be found fairly quickly: I do not recall any mosques being burnt down after the 9/11, yet rampages across Christian neighborhoods and burnings of Christian churches have been documented throughout the Middle East over some cartoons that reflected the opinion of the average European about Muslims. I do not recall women being stoned to death because of certain human weaknesses or because of finally standing up for themselves and stopping that daily male abuse by whatever means necessary in the West...I do not have any hatred towards anyone based on either color or religious beliefs, but let's be honest to ourselves....
I did put up a Danish flag on my bumper sticker and have been buying Danish ham and cheese exclusively to show my support of the free speech, and once again, religion has nothing to do with it...

  • "I do not recall any mosques being burnt down after the 9/11"____Actually there were some anti-Muslim acts, but the US government stamped on them quite firmly. And killing thousands of people is in a somewhat different class from publishing a few anti-terrorist cartoons.
